After being open for 13 weeks, the Anchor Cafe celebrated with a Grand Opening on Tuesday, Jan. 10, of the student-run coffee shop with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event, which took place from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., celebrated the hard work that the students, staff, and principal Jennifer Bustard have put into developing the Anchor Cafe.
Approximately 50-60 guests attended the event and enjoyed the free drink samples as well as a slideshow showing the progression of the Cafe. Bustard also spoke.
Marketing teacher Judy Hunt said she was excited by the events turnout and the interactions her students had at the event.
“Watching the students interact with the guests both behind and in front of the counter was the best part of the event,” Hunt said. “I am so proud of my students. I got to see them live a dream come true. It was great that the students enjoyed themselves so much.”
Hunt said she is so proud of her students during the event but was also excited about the involvement they have had throughout the whole processes of opening the cafe and preparing for the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
“It was fun to watch my students do the setup,” Hunt said. “It was difficult for me to not have control because I am a control freak. It was really rewarding to hand off the project to the students and for it to be successful.”
