One of Shores’ Destination Imagination groups recently had the opportunity of the lifetime as they flew across the pond to Wroclaw, Poland.
The team of freshmen Kennedy Schulist, Aidan Hart and Raine Jackson competed at the 2017 International Invitational from March 16 through March 19.
The team participated in an extreme challenge and an 8-10 minute instant challenge in Poland. While the contents of the instant challenge cannot be discussed per DI rules, Schulist offered some insight into the extreme challenge of their competition.
“In the extreme challenge, you have 24 hours to create props, a skit and practice what you will perform,” Schulist said. “We had to take an old Polish legend and a legend from anywhere in the world and mash the two together to make our own legend.”
Though they did not bring home a medal, Schulist is grateful for her experiences and looks forward to competing again.
“I have competed in the International Competition two years in a row now, and I have made so many great life-long friends,” Schulist said. “We got to see different cultures, how people in other countries live, and how diverse other places around the world are. Everybody that went to Poland this year has made friends that we talk to every day since the trip.”
