In the current generation, students can find just about anything online whether it’s school work, a sports game, or that episode they missed last week.

So why doesn’t Shores offer online textbooks?

Students are still lugging around a six-pound English literature book that could easily have been found online.

Let’s face it, every school wants to save money, so why is Shores wasting it on these textbooks that students can find online and not spend a penny? Instead, Shores is spending it on unnecessary and heavy textbooks that no student wants to carry around all day.

The current generation is familiar with tools online, and not in textbooks. So when it comes to textbooks, students aren’t as comfortable as they are on a computer or tablet, where everything is at their fingertips. Students have every textbook, ebook, homework assignment, studying app, and more with the touch of a button.

This online situation is also a help for teachers in the grading and assigning situation. Teachers can have a quiz or test over a reading, right on the computer and have it automatically graded or assigned. This also saves teachers from the horror of not being able to read a student’s handwriting and not knowing what to do.

In the end, textbooks are just a waste of time, money, and pain to keep around. Students have the world at their fingertips; Shores should embrace this as much as possible. Ditch the textbooks, and go online.
